Psychotherapy is a process of working on yourself and the difficulties you’re experiencing, within a professional therapeutic relationship. Its goal is to get to the roots of your problems and support your personal growth. Sessions are held weekly and last 50 minutes.
I am fluent in English and offer the full psychotherapy process in English — you don’t need to worry about a language barrier getting in the way of talking about what matters to you. Sessions can take place in my office in Bielsko-Biała or online, wherever you are.
During our work together you have the opportunity to:
- Express your concerns in an atmosphere of confidentiality and respect.
- Understand the true nature of the difficulties you’re experiencing.
- Change automatic patterns of reacting.
- Get to know your own needs and learn how to meet them.
- Improve your relationships with others.
- Learn to live more consciously and find greater satisfaction in life.
The relationship between you and your therapist is central to the process — it tends to mirror the difficulties you experience in relationships more broadly.
Choosing a therapist consciously matters, because how safe you feel in the therapeutic relationship strongly affects the outcome of your therapy. To help you make that decision, I offer two or three consultation sessions before starting the therapeutic process, so you can get a sense of how I work and decide whether I’m the right person to accompany you.
Approach — Gestalt Psychotherapy
My work is grounded in the methods and principles of Gestalt psychotherapy — a humanistic approach that integrates psychoanalytic thought, phenomenology, holism, Gestalt psychology, and existential philosophy. By bringing these perspectives together, Gestalt therapy aims to see each person as a whole, unique individual.
Its central aim is to expand your awareness so that your life can take on the direction and meaning that’s right for you. Gestalt therapy works with the automatic reactions and beliefs that weigh you down more than they help you, and teaches you to live more consciously.
Most of the difficulties clients bring to me stem from not understanding — or not being aware of — why they act or react the way they do. Together we work toward recognizing authentic needs and learning to meet them, while taking responsibility for doing so.
Sometimes conversation alone isn’t enough, and that’s when the other tools available in Gestalt therapy become especially useful — techniques such as empty-chair work, experiments, stream of consciousness, or body-focused work.
Length of the therapeutic process
Short-term psychotherapy
Short-term psychotherapy focuses on a specific area of difficulty — for example, working through a crisis or making an important decision. This form of therapy draws on your existing resources to reach a solution in a relatively short time. The whole process usually takes anywhere from a few to around a dozen sessions.
In short-term work, clarifying the goal you want to work on is key. Sometimes issues turn out to be more complex than they first appear, and resolving them calls for longer-term therapeutic work.
Long-term psychotherapy
Long-term psychotherapy allows you to get to know yourself in depth. In this process you can become aware of how the difficulty you’re experiencing affects your whole life, since this form of therapy takes into account the many different aspects and layers of personality. It allows us to reach the roots of your difficulties while building a safe, ongoing therapeutic bond.
The length of long-term psychotherapy depends on your readiness to grow and to let go of old patterns of behavior in favor of new, conscious choices. The whole process typically lasts anywhere from six months to several years.
Who is individual psychotherapy for?
I welcome both people who want to work on their personal development and those who are experiencing distress or difficulty.
Areas I support
- Emotional difficulties (anxiety, feelings of helplessness, nervousness, difficulty expressing emotions)
- Psychosomatic complaints
- Obsessions and compulsions
- Personality disorders
- Life crises
- New life situations and challenges (divorce, becoming a parent, a new job, grief, illness)
- Relationship difficulties (infidelity, loss of trust, the end of a relationship)
- Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder)
- Eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia)
- Panic attacks
- Communication difficulties
I also welcome clients from the LGBT+ community.
Who I’m not able to help
I don’t work with people who are currently struggling with alcohol or other substance dependency. For these situations, I recommend first seeking support from a specialist addiction therapist. Once stable abstinence has been achieved, I’m happy to begin psychotherapy.
Why choose psychotherapy in English in Bielsko-Biała with me
Finding a therapist who is genuinely fluent in English — not just conversational — can be hard outside major cities. I trained and worked internationally, and I regularly see English-speaking clients, expats, and people who simply feel more comfortable working through personal topics in English rather than Polish.
